Superb!

Even for a seasoned engineer, there are useful tidbits and tricks in here that can really save you.... Lots of stuff is just common sense, but it's the little nuggets of gold hidden within this book that make it a worthwhile read. If you're just starting your career as an Electrical Engineer or technician, this book will make a tremendous resource. For the amateur, there's lots of good stuff in here such as diagrams for nifty and inexpensive test equipment - learn how to build your own active scope probe for [very little]! Well written and humorous it's not a heavy technical read, but one that will definitely impart some very valuable knowledge.

When things aren't working in your circuits use
this book to get you started on how to find WHY
things aren't working. This book is a collection
of essays originally published by the author, and
a couple of other contributers in trade magazines.
They in general consist of lists and explanations
of problems and how to fix them. These lists are
grouped by kinds of circuits. I would have liked
to see more specifics on power supply problems
and on Phase Locked Loops and other oscillators.
Of particular use (at least to me)
is the advice on equipping your bench. If you build
huge boards this isn't as valuable as if you build
100 - 200 component circuits. The author has an
overly anti-Spice bias, but his cautions are generally
worth remembering. (I once took a grad course on
the internals of Spice, and another one on the
internals of mechanical simulation programs - they
all require that you understand the problem before
you rely on the computer). Obviously large very
inter-related circuit boards will require more
computer aided design because of the sheer complexity.
This book does tend to attribute a lot of problems
in systems to heat, whereas my most typical problem
is poor mechanical connections of some
sort (bad connectors, solder joints, etc). I use
this book as a reminder of what I need to be
aware of when I have a problem. A lot of the
engineers at HP and elsewhere really like this book, and THEY
are the analog design "water-walkers" that I truly
respect

This book is a collection of his articles from EDN magazine. It flows well and is a pleasure to read. Bob basicly describes the things that could go wrong with items such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors and oscillators. As the title states, if you need to troubleshoot your designs on the component level, buy this book.

Fantastic Classic Short Story

I remember reading this in English class in high school and I never forgot it. Its message was clear and undeniable.

No wonder it made such an impact when it was first published in 1948 to a big uproar.

The moral of the story in my interpretation is that we should never just follow a ritual or tradition just because that's the way it's always been done. If we feel uneasy, if it goes against our morals and better judgement, there is no reason to just go along because it's "the way we do it." We need to take the time to review our lives, our rituals, our decisions and determine if there is a good effect from their outcome.

When I read Stephen King's The Long Walk, I immediately thought of The Lottery. Same kind of tradition with an unmistakable outcome.

I only wish this had been available as a Kindle version, as it was a little steep (in comparison to other books) to pay over $3 for a 30 page book.

Surprise Ending

Reminds me of, "The Twilight Zone."

Every year, a small town gathers together to perform a sacred ritual to ensure a good harvest. A box is passed around, and everyone picks a piece of paper. The person who grabs the paper with the coal mark on it is the "winner" of sorts. The end is not what you think. You'll be surprised, and horrified.

After I read this short story, I did some research on Google. A few "concerned" parents were upset that this story is recommended reading in high school English classes. Seriously! I think the story is brilliant. A must read for anyone. If you read it, you might just get the irony, and the lesson to be learned.

The story is classic, the price is sure to go out of style

I bought this book after watching an episode of SourceFed. They compared it to many other great books that I enjoy, so I felt that I must read this one too.

The story itself is really great. It is a thought-provoking classic.

This book in particular is meant to be used by middle or high school students. It seemed to me to be very good at guiding its reader, if that was what you were looking for.

However, at almost 4 dollars, the 20 pages of story are not worth it. I would try to get a collection of Jackson's work from the library or buy a collection of her works Amazon for around 10 dollars. You'll get a lot more story for your buck!

After you read this books, you realized that the problem is afecting more women that you thought. You are not alone, find help before is too late, most of the women stay in the sick relations without realized that this damage their kids. Your kids will always knows about your being abused and they won't tell you until they grow up and became the abuser or abuse. Show your kids that they can be on a lovely and healthy relationship when they grow up, they don't have to tolerated abuse for anybody or anything in this world. Feel free and do it!!!

Very cool scenarios

This book has some of the coolest scenarios in the entire game. The scenarios technically do not happen during the same time period as the books or movies, but some are mentioned in history of the books. So the scenarios are "What-ifs" and speculation. Some people may hate non-canon or semi-stretching the canon type material. The scenarios are awesome though. The Dragon Gathamaur (is he in JRR's writing?) is said to have hated Durin, and attacked his tower, that scenario is in this book. They make a scenario of when Durin's folk uncover the Balor in the mines. That's cool, a ton of dwarves vs the Balor. There are two scenarios involving goblins attacking dwarven gates. Lastly they include an outdoor scenario of the dragon Gaurakh attacking the town of High Water.
